I remember in my childhood, my mother used to watch Ashfaq Shahib's program "Zavia" on PTV. like any other child i was not much interested in his talk. But i grew up and in my F.Sc's period, i had a chance to read book called Zavia by Ashfaq Sahib. My friends used to say that it's a very complicated book that we cannot even understand a single paragraph. But for me it was "Gohar-e-Nayab". As if i found a teacher, a generous friend in the form of Ashfaq Sahib. I learned many things from Ashfaq Sahib and through his stories i could relate many incidents of my life.

ZAVIA is the book which will always be my favorite. Whenever, i feel low, i just open it up and the comforting words from Ashfaq Sahib makes me feel better. Here are some of my favorite quotes from it.

Baba Ashfaq

A term which was introduced by Ashfaq Sahib is "Baba". According to him, A "Baba" is someone who creates facilities for human being. He was always curious that people ask questions like 

• Where can we find a "Baba"?
• Can you give us his address or number?
• Why we cannot find a Baba?

Ashfaq Ahmed that according to the definition, you yourself can be a Baba. But for me, Ashfaq Sahib is a Baba who guided us in every aspect of our life and comforted through his words. 

Family and Friends

• Bano Qudsia

Bano Qudsia (Bano Apa) was wife of Ashfaq Sahib. She taught us how a woman should be in the role of a wife, mother and a working woman. What should be her priorities?  Her books/Novels are still very popular. Mard-e-Abresham is a worth reading and is about Shahab Sahib.

• Qudrat-Ullah-Shahab

Qudrat-ullah-shahab Shahib was one of close friends of  Ashfaq Sahib. His auto biography named Shahab Nama is worth reading. One of my friends suggested this book to me and after reading it you can fully understand Pakistan's situation before partition, future of Pakistan according to Shahab sahib and most importantly about Sufism.

Mumtaz Mufti

Labbaik is the travelogue of Mufti Sahib while he was on Hajj with Shahab Sahib. He portrayed the Love of ALLAH and his creation in a whole new form. Before going to perform Hajj or Umrah, it is a must read.

Death of Ashfaq Ahmed

His famous line at the end of Zavia was " ALLAH apko asaniyan ata farmaye aur asaniyan taqseem krnay ka sharaf ata farmaye " . My dua for him is also "ALLAH apko asaniyan ata farmaye".
